Uproar Over Firing Of Sanitation Service Authority Head

The Nation newspaper is today reporting that disquiet has erupted among sanitation workers over the firing of acting general manager of the Sanitation Service Authority - Stanton Alleyne. Several rubbish trucks were parked yesterday as workers put down their tools and commenced industrial action protesting the way in which Mr. Alleyne was fired. The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) is today meeting with the workers to determine the future course of that industrial action. A large segment of the population will see this latest dismissal as part of a perceived ongoing political witch hunt that has followed the change of government earlier this year. Alleyne, a returning national from the UK, was born and raised in the Mullins Bay area in Road View, St. Peter.
